Get started with your card reader

Follow these simple steps to connect your Bluetooth card reader to your smartphone or iPad and then take your first mobile payment.

I'm using:

Intuit Pay chip and pin machine

Before you start, make sure you’ve installed the free Intuit Pay app onto your Apple device.

Step 1

Connect your card reader via Bluetooth

  1. Charge your card reader with the USB cord and turn it ON.
  2. In your iPhone or iPad’s settings, tap Bluetooth and turn ON.
  3. Under devices in the Bluetooth menu, tap Intuit Pay###.
  4. You’ll see a pairing request and six-digit code. Tap Pair.
  5. Your card reader will show the same six-digit code.
  6. Press Tick to confirm pairing.

Step 2

Update your card reader

You need to update your card reader before you take your first transaction.

  1. Open the Intuit Pay app and tap Update card reader on the bottom of your screen.
  2. The update will start automatically and run for about two minutes.
  3. Your card reader will display status messages during this time.
  4. When your card reader says Ready, you can take your first payment.

Step 3

Take your first chip & PIN payment

To complete your setup, take a test transaction of 10p!

  1. Tap Take payment on the Intuit Pay app's home screen.
  2. Tap Enter £, on the right of the screen.
  3. Enter £0.10 as the payment amount and tap Add.
  4. Tap Review order and then Checkout.
  5. Tap Pay with card and follow instructions on the card reader screen to take a chip & PIN payment.
  6. When you see Send receipt, enter an email address and tap Send.
